Chiesa Madre di Geraci Siculo
Chiesa Madre di Geraci Siculo
The church architectural structure, called "Sicilian-Arab-Romanesque", represents the only example of this style that can be found in Sicily and is due to Norman influence. Geraci Siculo Chiesa Madre has been consecrated in 1495 and presents a coeval ogival stone portal, while the decorative arch, the mullioned window, the rose window and the cornice were added recently. Inside the church are located several art works, such as the marble statue of Maria SS. della Neve made by Gagini, the wooden choir made by Antonio D'Occurre in XVII century and a painting representing the Annunciation event, in the moment when Vergin Mary opens her heart to God will announced by Gabriel the Archangel.
