Basilica di S. Agata

The St. Agata church, minor basilica from 1802, is the mother church of Montemaggiore Belsito. The church has a latin cross and three naves, with a big central dome, and has been built on the ruins of a pre-existing small church dated around 1600. Outside the church can be seen the Migliaccio marquis family coat of arm, the founder of the building.

Inside the church is possible to admire, in particular, the canvas (XVIII century) of the Sacred Family with St. Anne and St. Joachim attributed to Filippo Randazzo, the Madonna with Child and Saint Gaetano from Thiene (unknown painter of the XVIII century), the Annunciation (unknown painter of the eighteenth century), the picture of Madonna of the Angels (XVI sec.), a painting of the Crucifix with the Holy Souls of the Purgatory made by Vincenzo La Barbera (1628), and the marble image of Madonna of the Hearing by the Gagini school (1629).
