The Gorges of Tiberius are a hidden corner of nature in the Madonie Park. The gorges are the result of a millennial and endless digging of the river Pollina into the limestone rocks, forming the current canyon. The nature in this area is almost pristine: the only human traces are represented by Marcatagliastro houses on the background, perched in the distance and immersed in the lush of the Mediterranean vegetation. There are many plants like holm, wild olive, mastic, myrtle, oregano, euphorbia, oleander and many bushes near the riverbed. The canyon is about 300 meters long and winds through the vegetation and limestone cliffs towering over 20 meters

It is navigable by rowing boats, while the use of motorized boat is strictly prohibited. There are several beaches where you can notice the presence of some species of amphibians and freshwater crabs. It is also a nesting place for the golden eagle, sometimes you can sight it there although it is a rare and elusive animal.
