San Niccoló de Franchis church is one of the most ancient in Polizzi Generosa, built by Pietro from Tolosa on 1167. On 1260 the Franciscan S. Gandolfo from Binasco died in the church while he was come to Polizzi to preach. At the friar death the church structure was modified to create a chapel dedicated to the Polizzi patron Saint.
