For centuries Sicilian women have mastered the art of embroidery, lace-making and weaving.

The precious workmanship embroideries are executed with great finesse and sometimes enriched through the use of gold wire. The oldest and most valuable ones can be especially admired in many District churches.

The lace-making includes the bobbin, the filet, the tatting and the macramè.

A characteristic of this area is also the creation of several tissues like blankets and sheets, and frame carpets, characterized by bright colours and typical patterns.
