Palazzo Guccione

Palazzo Guccione, made in art nouveau style, is Alia' s most important 800´ architecture example, placed in Rapatello district, the highest and most ancient part of town. The facade with three orders presents in the lowest part an ashlar while in the higher parts are showed iron railings with plant motifs and classical balconies with trefoil frames. The main entrance has two columns with corinthians capitals and an iron crowning. On the top of the building, there is a "belvedere", typical of Sicilian art nouveau style. The entrance hall and the stairs are realized with marble floors and steps, and the landings with polychrome geometric inlays, stucco walls and iron railings. On the first-floor hall ceiling, there are some geometric patterns, while the walls are plastered to resemble various marble typologies, with polychrome glasses representing family crests. Doors and fixtures are in the modern style like the halls, which present abstract geometric patterns of the latest art nouveau style.
